Summer Road Trip 2018 - Third Destination - Edward Gorey House / by Ted Kaiser

As our final activity while visiting our third destination, Cape Cod, we paid a visit to the Edward Gorey House. Sara, my wife, is a huge Edward Gorey fan, having first been exposed to the artist’s work as a child upon reading the original novel, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, by John Bellairs, which was illustrated by Gorey. (We recently enjoyed the film adaptation starring Jack Black and Cate Blanchett.) Having checked the museum out ahead of time on Trip Advisor, we were expecting good things from our visit. We were not disappointed; the Edward Gorey House contains a great collection, very well organized, and the docents were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and highly entertaining - we strongly recommend visiting especially for any fans of Gorey and gothic horror/humour, as well as anyone with a broad interest in literature and the arts.
